We don’t usually post film trailers on here but the marketing for District 9, A new film ‘presented’ by Peter Jackson (like Quentin Tarantino ‘presented’ Hostel…hmm) is so immersive that it warrants a look. To reflect the style of the film - shot documentary-style and set in South Africa (A nice if slightly obvious choice of setting for a film effectively about a race battle) - there are 4 separate sites representing the different sides of the conflict. It’s easy to forget that this is all a ploy to get some punters into the cinema.

First up, D-9.com run by MNU (Multi-National United) serves as a general information site for both Humans and Non-Humans. However it becomes clear that the segregation and dual-standards is bred by this organisation. A huge site complete with interactive map, Job alerts and advice for dealing safely with non-humans.

Next, multinationalunited.com, the corporate face of the shady-sounding MNU

Third, mnuspreadslies.com, A pro-rights movement for Non-humans

Finally, Maths from Outer Space - A nicely old-school educational website with an irritatingly tricky test on it (my score of 7/10 was deemed ‘not high enough for the base level of intelligence required for the program).

Here is the trailer below, or just click on the D-9 link to see it in context. The film itself looks pretty good too.

Thanks for the article, your website is excellent! My grandparents and I typically have brunch for Easter and have a ball. This absolutely made me smile!
